Lower Ballet summer classes are designed for 8-12 year old students who are current SRB Lower Division students or new students with a minimum of one year of ballet training. These twice-weekly classes focus on developing proper ballet technique, strength, flexibility, and artistry. Students work on barre exercises, center work, and across-the-floor combinations that build upon fundamental skills. The curriculum emphasizes correct body alignment, turnout, musicality, and performance quality. Classes help students develop the discipline and technical foundation necessary for advancing in classical ballet. Instruction follows the professional standards of Richmond Ballet's training methodology. Students must wear appropriate ballet dancewear including leotards, tights, and ballet shoes, with hair in a neat bun.
