Program Aide is an introductory leadership program for younger campers interested in developing leadership skills at camp. This program, also known as Future Leader in Training (FLIT), gives campers in grades 8-9 their first taste of what it's like to be a camp counselor. Participants learn basic leadership skills, practice working with younger campers, and gain experience in activity facilitation and group management. The program includes training in child development, safety procedures, and effective communication while still allowing time to enjoy traditional camp activities. FLIT campers serve as role models for younger campers and assist counselors with daily activities and programs. This experience builds confidence, responsibility, and teamwork skills while preparing participants for more advanced leadership roles like Counselor-in-Training (CIT) in future summers. Available at both Camp Meriwether and Camp Timber Ridge, with options for day camp or sleepaway sessions.
