Advanced Climb is designed for experienced climbers ages 12-16 who have passed Rock & River Level III. This intensive program takes climbing skills to the next level with our most experienced climbing staff. Campers are treated more like peers than students, working together to set up climbs and send harder routes and boulder problems. The week typically starts with an intense technique-building clinic at Peak RVA, then alternates between outdoor climbing and working on bouldering and lead climbing at the gym. On Thursdays, the group takes a day trip to The Forest bouldering area in Charlottesville to tackle sweet boulder problems. Advanced Climbing campers and staff form tight bonds, develop strong friendships, and freely share encouragement. The program covers top-rope anchor building, lead climbing, crack climbing, and bouldering. With a 4:1 ratio and expert instruction, this camp prepares future Passages climbing staff.
