Softball Coach Pitch is designed for League Ages 7 & 8 (eligible birthdays 1/1/2017 – 12/31/2018). The goal of this division is to have fun while continuing to focus on proper fundamentals of throwing, catching, hitting, base-running and fielding. This level introduces athletes to hitting a pitched ball while continuing to emphasize fun and steady skill development. Batters get up to 5 chances to hit off a pitch from a coach. The teams play with an 11-inch ball. Volunteer coaches umpire the games and score is kept. Richmond Little League's Coach Pitch Division prioritizes participation, learning, and enjoyment, ensuring every player takes the field, builds skills, and gains confidence as they continue their softball journey. The Spring Season will begin practices at the beginning of March and runs through the end of May. From the beginning of the season through beginning of April, teams will have 1 weeknight practice and 1 weekend practice. Once games begin, there will be few to no practices. Teams will have 1 weeknight game and 1 weekend game. There will be interleague games with other leagues in D5.
