Embroidery Basics introduces children ages 9-12 to the art of hand embroidery. This workshop teaches fundamental stitches including running stitch, backstitch, satin stitch, and French knots. Students learn to transfer designs, use embroidery hoops, and combine stitches to create decorative patterns and images. Projects are inspired by textile artworks in the museum's collection. The class develops fine motor skills, patience, focus, and appreciation for textile arts. Students complete a finished embroidery project to take home.
