These weekend half-day sailing camps are designed for juniors ages 6-17 and provide hands-on instruction in the club's fleet of Optimists (Optis) and Club 420s (c420s), so no need to bring your own boat. Set in the natural beauty of Fishing Bay along the lower Chesapeake Bay, campers are immersed in authentic waterfront living without modern resort amenities. Each two-day session runs Saturday and Sunday and adapts to the interests and progress of the sailors, making every camp experience unique. Campers learn essential sailing skills while also discovering how to live on the water through activities like swimming, tying knots, kayaking, watching the weather, navigating, crabbing, critter-catching, beachcombing, and exploring tides and aquatic life. The program emphasizes building courage, friendship, laughter, and grit in a rustic, technology-free environment. Classes are taught by experienced Sailing Instructors right in Fishing Bay and serve as an excellent next step after Opti Kids and Junior Week programs. All sessions include breaks for snacks and hydration, and campers must pass a two-part swim test on the first morning.
