Learn how to make a variety of delicious dishes from across the Caribbean in this hands-on cooking class led by instructor Matt Ertle. Participants ages 16 and older will explore the diverse culinary traditions of Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Haiti, and Trinidad, learning to prepare tasty examples like tostones (fried plantains), macaroni pie, rice and peas, ceviche, pikliz (Haitian spicy pickled vegetables), and jerk seasoning. This three-hour class provides a culinary journey through the Caribbean, teaching authentic recipes and cooking techniques while celebrating the rich flavors and cultural heritage of these island nations. Students will make and feast on the dishes they prepare, enjoying a communal meal that brings the warmth and vibrancy of Caribbean cuisine to the winter season. It's a taste of the tropics in January! This class is perfect for food enthusiasts, home cooks looking to expand their repertoire, and anyone interested in Caribbean culture and cuisine.
