Fiction Workshop is an intensive Upper School academic course designed for rising 11th and 12th graders who are passionate about creative writing. Over three weeks, students will explore the craft of fiction writing, developing their narrative skills through daily writing exercises, peer workshops, and instructor feedback. The course covers essential elements of storytelling including character development, plot structure, dialogue, point of view, and setting. Students will read and analyze contemporary fiction, participate in writing workshops where they share and critique each other's work, and complete multiple short fiction pieces. By the end of the course, each student will have a portfolio of polished short stories and a deeper understanding of the fiction writing process.
