Students ages 9-11 will explore the art of hand-building with clay, focusing on creating functional flower pots and vases. This class introduces fundamental ceramic techniques including pinch pots, coil building, and slab construction. Participants will learn how to shape, texture, and decorate their pieces, then apply glazes to create colorful finished works. Working in VisArts' professional clay studio, students will develop hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness while creating unique pottery pieces they can use at home. Each student will complete multiple projects that will be fired in the kiln. All materials including clay, tools, and glazes are provided. This class meets once per week for 8 weeks during the winter session.
