The Counselor-in-Training I (CIT I) program is an intensive two-week leadership experience designed for older Girl Scouts ready to develop youth development, counseling, teaching, and leadership skills. This hands-on program requires commitment, maturity, and a readiness to learn. CIT I participants work alongside experienced camp staff to understand the responsibilities of being a counselor, practice leading activities, and develop their personal leadership style. The program includes training in child development, safety protocols, activity planning, and group management. Campers will gain practical experience working with younger campers while receiving mentorship and feedback from camp directors. This is the first step in Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta's leadership pathway that prepares teens to become camp counselors. Participants must complete an application and interview process after registering.
