Special Effects is an exciting film and science camp for students in grades 4-7 who are fascinated by movie magic and visual effects. This hands-on camp explores the science and art behind special effects used in movies, television, and theater. Campers will learn about practical effects, makeup effects, miniatures, green screen technology, and basic digital effects. Students will create their own special effects including fake blood, wounds, scars, and creature features using professional makeup techniques. The camp covers topics like forced perspective, stop-motion animation, pyrotechnics (safely demonstrated), and how filmmakers create illusions. Through hands-on projects, students will design and build miniature sets, create explosion effects, work with green screens, and produce short video clips showcasing their effects. This camp combines creativity, science, and technology while teaching students about careers in film production and visual effects.
