The Counselor-in-Training I (CIT I) with Horses program combines all the leadership development of the standard CIT I program with specialized training in equestrian program management. This intensive two-week experience is designed for horse-loving teens who want to develop both counseling skills and expertise in barn management, horse care, and riding instruction. Participants will learn youth development, safety protocols, and leadership skills while also gaining hands-on experience in the equestrian program. The program includes training in English riding instruction methods, horse care and welfare, barn safety, and teaching riding skills to younger campers. CIT I with Horses participants work alongside experienced equestrian staff and camp counselors, receiving mentorship in both areas. This unique program prepares teens to become counselors with specialized equestrian knowledge. Participants must complete an application and interview process after registering.
