This summer modern dance class introduces students ages 8-12 to contemporary dance techniques that complement their ballet training. Modern dance emphasizes natural movement, floor work, improvisation, and expressive qualities that differ from classical ballet. Students explore concepts like contraction and release, fall and recovery, and weight sharing while developing their own movement vocabulary. The class helps dancers become more versatile performers by expanding their understanding of different dance styles and movement qualities.
