This summer character dance class introduces students ages 8-12 to the exciting world of character dance, a theatrical dance style featured in classical ballets. Character dance incorporates folk dance traditions from various cultures, including Russian, Spanish, Hungarian, and Polish styles, often seen in ballets like Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, and Don Quixote. Students learn specific character dance steps, rhythms, and styles while developing performance quality and cultural appreciation. The class emphasizes musicality, storytelling through movement, and the unique technical demands of character dance. Perfect for students looking to expand their dance vocabulary beyond classical ballet and add versatility to their training.
