In Summer Shakespeare at Sabot, rising 5-8 students will embark on an introductory exploration of the Bard's timeless comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream. Students will read, workshop, and perform scenes of their choosing from a script adapted for newcomers to Shakespeare's language. Along the way, students will explore Shakespeare as a person, the historical context of his writing, and the fundamentals of theater acting that he helped pioneer. This hands-on class goes beyond performing as students step into the roles of director, designer, and creative collaborator. Together, they will bring scenes to life, from acting on stage to designing sets and costumes, creating a fully immersive Shakespeare experience. The week will culminate with a performance in the Honor Hall Auditorium at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 31st, open to both parents and fellow campers at Sabot. This full-day camp runs from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM with optional extended day available.
