Adventure Fishing Camp for ages 10-15 has been one of Virginia Outside's most popular camps since 2005. This camp is great for beginners looking to get a taste for fishing as well as slightly more advanced young anglers who can fish more independently. The camp is designed to teach the entire process of fishing, from rigging rods and tying knots to identifying fish species and choosing the right tackle. Campers have the opportunity to fish from land, wade in the river, and fish from watercraft. Throughout the week, campers learn about different waterways in Virginia, especially the local James River. They visit different locations, both public and private, searching for the fish of a lifetime. The camp has access to great private farm ponds where campers enjoy the water and fish all to themselves. In past years, they've had success catching fish along the Appomattox River, James River, and Rivanna River. Target fish include Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Sunfish/Bluegill varieties, Catfish, Crappie, and more. The goal is to spark a lifelong interest in new anglers and help returning anglers build on their skills while introducing them to the great wealth of fishing opportunities the area offers.
