Mini Adventure Riders Camp for ages 6-9, in partnership with Endorphin Fitness, was created for beginners looking to get into trail riding who still need more practice on flat ground first. Basic bike riding skills are necessary to participate. Richmond has some of the best urban mountain biking trails around, and this camp introduces more kids to biking on these trails. It's a great way to explore nature and allows covering more distance on the trail than on foot. Campers develop beginner and intermediate trail riding skills including steering and balancing at different speeds, shifting timing, hill climbing and descending, trail etiquette, riding safety, and more. Campers start each day with warm-ups, skill drills, and then moderate trail riding. The difficulty of trail riding increases as the week goes on to allow riders to build on their new skills. Throughout the week, river conditions permitting, campers spend time cooling off in the James River by swimming and exploring the rocks. This camp provides meaningful experiences in the outdoors where kids learn, play, and grow their confidence.
