Nature Camp's Second Session provides rising 8th-9th graders with an immersive two-week residential experience in natural history and environmental science. This co-ed program combines rigorous academics with outdoor adventure, offering hands-on learning in subjects like botany, ecology, entomology, geology, herpetology, limnology, and ornithology. Students select one major class for intensive study and rotate through minor classes in other natural science disciplines. The curriculum emphasizes field-based experiential learning, with campers spending significant time outdoors investigating nature through binoculars, wading in streams, and exploring forested mountains. Located in the George Washington National Forest, the program fosters environmental stewardship while building scientific inquiry skills and lasting friendships.
