Health and Wellness II is an advanced health education course for rising 10th, 11th, and 12th graders that builds upon foundational wellness concepts. This full-day program explores more complex health topics relevant to older adolescents, including advanced nutrition science, mental health and emotional intelligence, healthy relationships and communication, sexual health and consent, substance abuse prevention and recovery, stress management techniques, sleep science, physical fitness and exercise physiology, and making healthy lifestyle choices. The course uses a combination of lectures, interactive discussions, case studies, guest speakers from health professions, and practical activities to engage students in meaningful learning. Students will develop critical thinking skills to evaluate health information, learn to advocate for their own health needs, and understand how to support the wellness of others. The course emphasizes evidence-based health information and provides students with tools they can use throughout their lives. This course fulfills Upper School health requirements and prepares students to make informed decisions about their well-being.
