Lower Theatre Dance summer classes introduce 8-12 year old students to Broadway-style dance and musical theatre movement. Theatre dance combines elements of jazz, tap, and theatrical performance to create the energetic, expressive style seen in musical theatre productions. Students learn jazz technique, performance skills, and how to tell stories through dance while developing rhythm, coordination, and stage presence. Classes emphasize musicality, showmanship, and the fun, dynamic quality of theatre dance. This training complements classical ballet by expanding students' versatility and performance abilities. Current SRB Lower Division students or new students with at least one year of ballet training are welcome. Jazz pants and jazz shoes are optional but not required.
