Junior Week Counselor-in-Training (CIT) is a five-day leadership program for experienced junior sailors ages 13-18 who have attended at least three previous Junior Weeks as participants. CITs are invited to assist in the various classes as assistant instructors under adult supervision, gaining valuable teaching experience, leadership skills, and mentorship opportunities. This program allows older juniors to give back to the sailing community while developing skills in instruction, safety management, and working with younger sailors. Set in the beautiful waters of Fishing Bay on the lower Chesapeake Bay, CITs help with all aspects of camp including on-water instruction, boat setup, safety supervision, and shore-based activities. Beyond their instructional duties, CITs continue to develop their own sailing skills and enjoy the camaraderie of working with professional coaches and volunteers. Set in FBYC's rustic, unplugged environment with dirt roads, picnic tables, screen porches, wildlife, and ample outdoor space, the CIT program teaches leadership, responsibility, and the joy of sharing sailing with the next generation. Interested sailors should contact juniors@fbyc.net for additional information and to apply. Parents or guardians must provide lunch and supervision during the lunch hour (12-1 PM). Additional family activities are offered after 4 PM some days, and the week concludes with group pictures on Friday.
