This comprehensive class teaches students to develop original characters and construct detailed fictional worlds. Young artists will learn character design principles including personality development, visual design, backstory creation, and character relationships. The course then expands to world-building, covering setting design, culture creation, magic systems or technology, geography, and history. Students will work on both visual and written aspects of their creations, producing character sketches, maps, and written descriptions. The class encourages students to think deeply about how characters and worlds interact, creating cohesive and believable fictional universes. Projects can be developed for comics, novels, games, or any storytelling medium. This class is perfect for aspiring writers, game designers, comic artists, and anyone who loves creating imaginary worlds.
