RPG Video Game Design introduces grades 4-7 students to game development through the creation of role-playing games. Young developers will learn game design principles, storytelling, character development, and programming as they build their own RPG adventures. Campers will explore game mechanics like character stats, inventory systems, quest design, dialogue trees, and combat systems. Each day features lessons in game design theory, hands-on development using game creation software, and playtesting sessions. Students will create original characters, design game worlds, write engaging storylines, and implement game logic. Activities include mapping dungeons, creating NPCs (non-player characters), designing items and equipment, balancing game difficulty, and adding sound effects and music. The week culminates in a game showcase where campers present their RPGs and play each other's creations. This camp develops creativity, programming skills, storytelling abilities, and game design thinking.
