This new class brings the digital aesthetic of pixel art into the physical world using traditional art materials. Young artists will learn about pixel art - the blocky, retro style seen in classic video games - and recreate it using beads, colored paper, paint, and other hands-on materials. Students will design their own pixel characters and scenes, learning about color, pattern, and grid-based design. Projects include perler bead creations, mosaic-style paper collages, and painted pixel art on canvas. The class teaches planning and precision while allowing for creative expression. Students will learn to work from grids, count carefully, and see how small units combine to create larger images. This unique approach combines the appeal of digital gaming culture with traditional art-making, perfect for young artists who love video games and hands-on crafts.
