Summer Shakespeare Camp at Sabot School offers rising 5th through 8th grade students a full-day immersive exploration of Shakespeare's timeless comedy "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Students embark on an introductory journey through the Bard's work, reading, workshopping, and performing scenes of their choosing from a script adapted for newcomers to Shakespeare's language. Along the way, campers explore Shakespeare as a person, the historical context of his writing, and the fundamentals of theater acting that he helped pioneer. This hands-on class goes beyond performing, as students step into the roles of director, designer, and creative collaborator, bringing scenes to life through acting, set design, and costume creation for a fully immersive Shakespeare experience. The camp develops literary analysis, public speaking, creative collaboration, and theatrical skills while building confidence in performance. The week culminates with a performance in the Honor Hall Auditorium at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 31st, open to both parents and fellow campers. This intensive theater experience introduces students to classical literature through active engagement and creative interpretation.
