Future Leader in Training (FLIT) with Horses is a specialized leadership program for older Girl Scouts (grades 8-9) that combines leadership development with equestrian experience. This program is offered at Camp Meriwether and focuses on building leadership skills while learning about horse care, barn management, and equestrian instruction. Participants will develop their leadership abilities, assist with younger campers in horseback riding programs, learn teaching techniques for equestrian activities, and understand camp operations. The program includes leadership workshops, communication skills training, team-building exercises, and hands-on experience with horses. Participants will learn horse care, barn safety, basic riding instruction methods, and how to assist with riding lessons. In addition to leadership and equestrian training, participants will enjoy camp activities and build relationships with peers. This sleepaway program prepares teens for future roles as riding instructors and camp counselors while developing their passion for horses and leadership.
